Rick McLaughlin Trio
Saturday, September 24, 8pm
30 minute pre-concert talk at 7:15pm
Old Town Hall, 9 Main Street
West Stockbridge

Our 2022 Jazz Series concludes with two exceptional concerts. Mark both dates on your calendar, as each promises to provide an evening of great jazz right here in West Stockbridge.

On Saturday, August 27, at 7:00 pm, the Yoko Miwa Trio will perform at The Foundry in West Stockbridge. Yoko Miwa is an internationally acclaimed pianist/composer and one of the most powerful and compelling performers on the scene today. Her trio of Scott Goulding on drums and Will Slater on bass creates remarkable telepathy and infectious energy that has brought audiences to their feet worldwide. For more than a decade Miwa’s trio has played regularly at major jazz clubs in their home city of Boston, as well as venues around the world. To purchase tickets, visit The Foundry website at thefoundryws.com.

Our final concert for the season will be back at the Old Town Hall on Saturday, September 24, and will feature bassist Rick McLaughlin and his Trio with Sheryl Bailey on guitar and Yoron Israel on drums. Rick is one of the most highly regarded musicians in the Boston jazz scene today. His playing has embraced the full spectrum of the jazz medium, from straight ahead acoustic jazz to his work with the Either/Orchestra, a post-bop/avant-garde big band led by saxophonist/arranger Russ Gershon. Prior to the concert, Rick will lead a discussion that will provide a behind-the-scenes look at how a jazz group approaches a song and how they work together to bring the song to life through the process of improvisation.
