The Daryl Lowery Quartet
Our 2022 Jazz Series got off to a rousing start with a concert by the Daryl Lowery Quartet at the Old Town Hall on Saturday, June 11. Led by saxophonist, composer, and educator Daryl Lowery, the group featured bassist Mary Ann McSweeney (yes, that Mary Ann McSweeney who you can see playing bass in Girl From the North Country on Broadway); Brazilian-born pianist and Berklee College of Music faculty member, Gilson Schachnik; and Grammy Award-winning drummer Mark Walker.
Led by Lowery’s soulful rhythms on his tenor sax, the group took the audience on a jazzy journey through a melodic range of Lowery’s original songs backed up by the solid accompaniment of the group. This performance was jazz at its finest from a group of musicians who have honed their chops through a lifetime of dedication to their craft.
