A Tribute to Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker
Richard Stanmeyer:
Hailed as a "trumpet prodigy" by Berkshires Jazz, Richard Stanmeyer has performed with renowned artists such as Rutshelle Guillaume and Belle & Sebastian, and he has performed at venues including Symphony Hall and the Newport Jazz Festival. In July and August of 2022 he taught and performed with his group in Morelia, México, including performing a sold-out show at the city’s cultural center, Centro Cultural Allende 637.
His mentors include many of the who’s-who for jazz and classical trumpet, including Ben Wright (2nd trumpet of the BSO), GRAMMY award-winning trumpet player Nicholas Payton, Marquis Hill, and Tanya Darby. In May 2024 he graduated on a full-tuition Helena Foundation Presidential Scholarship at New England Conservatory for his M.M in Jazz Studies (Trumpet Performance).
Richard will be joined by Omar Valenzuela on piano, Mary Ann McSweeney on bass, and Tobias Israel on drums.
